To know how much there is to know is the beginning of learning to live.

Janét Aizenstros is a woman who loves books. She’s authored ten books and published five of those books.

Each year she supports The Indigo Love of Reading Foundation which is dedicated to putting books in the hands of Canadian children.

From September 15th to October 7th, Indigo stores across Canada "adopt" a local economic-needs school and raises funds on their behalf.

The Foundation also hosts an online fundraising platform to help even more schools fundraise for their libraries.

Help the @ja.foundation show support to #brantavenuepublicschool for the adopt-a-school program.

I will forever live in two worlds.
One of those world’s are filled with books that have been my primary inspiration for living.

Books have always been my sacred retreat.

As a child, I would sit in the windowsill for hours, escaping into a world filled with vibrant imaginative characters. I’ve been a resident of Morrison’s Beloved, sang in the cage with Maya, sought freedom alongside Davis, viewed through the pain-filled eyes of Kogawa, laughed heartily with Hughes, cried deeply with Frank and Haley, became undone with Lamb and discovered nature’s beauty through Jewel.

It’s a rewarding world that all children must be given.

I am reminded of the quote by Malala Yousafzai that ‘One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.’

Let this message be our legacy to future generations.

GORMAN SHORE GOODMAN CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

THE JOSEPH & WOLF LEBOVIC JEWISH COMMUNITY CAMPUS

Janét Aizenstros is not just a woman who loves books and literacy but a woman who loves children.

The Janét Aizenstros Reading Circle namesake came to life after an exclusive reading of her children’s book series at the Gorman Shore Goodman Childhood Education Centre located at the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus in Thornhill, Ontario.

The United Jewish Appeal’s (UJA) collaborated with the Janét Aizenstros Foundation to have the reading circle named in her honor.
